The Friends we have made…

Everywhere in Thailand you will see furry friends… the cats and dogs are spotted all over the countryside finding themselves shade and food from locals and tourists alike. In such a Buddhist based culture, the locals believe that karma is earned by taking care of these little creatures. But you will see them most places you stop and they will most likely be friendly and want to get pets and treats. Since most of the food we eat is spicy and not something you would want to feed to an animal, we have decided to carry a bag of treats on the scooter just in case the opportunity presents itself. This post is dedicated to the furry little friends we have made along the way and I will continue to add to it as I am sure we will meet many more 🙂

1st night in Samui and this big eyed beauty was on our patio looking for food- unfortunately all we have at this point is a little dried mango- she was not satisfied with that offering and came back the next night after we had gone to 711 for some treats 🙂
This large shaggy dog was outside the 711 when we went to get the treats. He needs a good shave but he was a pretty happy pup and came right over to us when we sat down to drink our coffee. This then prompted Matt to go back in for some dog snacks 😉
Kind Sir, can you bring me some snausages please??? 🙂
He did end up spitting out the Dentastix Ponkey got him in favor for some lunch meat another lady had brought. Who wants to eat healthy treats when there’s lunch meat right?!? But he went back and munched it down though because doggy dental health is important.
This little girl joined us for breakfast at NaNa’s one morning. She was sweet and loud and loved the pets! We gave her a piece of shrimp and got “in trouble” with the owner for feeding her as they had already laid out a huge bowl of chicken scraps for her- what a beggar!! 😛
Saw this sweetheart outside the 711 on our travels yesterday, he was politely guarding a chicken carcass someone had given him. He was not being mean at all and we could have petted him if we wanted, but we left him alone to enjoy his meal.
Tiny sweet kitty with a cleft lip was begging us for treats when we sat down to dinner late one night at an open air restaurant. We were sad that we had nothing to share at the time.
Our fluffy pal at the Beryl Bar who was all too happy for the rib bits and water that we shared with him.
Another sweet face at the Beryl Bar 🙂
Soi gecko? He just wanted to join us to handle the bugs that were flying about our table by the water.
Tiny dog greeted us at the beach restaurant our first night in Samui.
Teeny kitten with her mom waiting by our scooter one night- do you think she would fit in my backpack? Its so hard not to take these guys home!
This is our wake up call every morning- this little YEOWLER comes calling at about 6 AM- doesn’t he know we are on vacation!?
My hostess at the Magic Alambic Rum Distillery- what a warm greeting 🙂
Horses and Chickens just walking down a dirt road on the way to Beryl Bar
Our stash- man we know how to party!!!
Gorgeous beach cat who reminded us of Kevin’s cat Harley 🙂
This is why we bring the treats wherever we go 🙂
Chaweng market kitty looking for pets just as much as treats
This guy was grateful for the dentastix 🙂
Furry friend who loves the chicken from my pad Thai @ the botanical gardens
Roadside soi puppy happily playing with a rat he caught- we gave him a dentastix just so he could freshen his breath after!

Stay tuned for more furry soi friends….
